King of Nepal Maharaj Dhiraj Surendra Bikram Sah and other Members of a Darbar - 1863

This Photograph shows the King of Nepal, Maharaj Dhiraj Surendra Bikram Sah, (ruled 1846-81), Col George Ramsay, the British Resident, who represented the Government of India as Ambassador (Nepal was otherwise closed to Europeans), is on the King's right. Raj Guru, the chief Hindu priest of Nepal, is on the King's left. Sitting on Colonel Ramsay's right is one of Jang Bahadur's brothers, probably Jagat Shamsher.

Hathee Singh Jain Temple - Ahmedabad c1868

Hathee Singh temple is a famous Jain temple. It was constructed in 1850. The temple was named after its founder Seth Hathee Singh. He was a wealthy Jain merchant. This temple was built in the dedication of the 15th Jain Trithanakara Dharmnath. The temple is famous for its architectural styling and designing that consists of intricate carvings.

Mahatma Gandhi at work during his voyage from India to London - 1931

An intimate study of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian leader, taken at sea during the voyage from India to London to attend the round table conference, aboard the S.S. Rajputana. His secretaries are taking dictation from Gandhi, who used the covered hold as his quarters. The woman is Miss Madeline Slade, daughter of an English admiral, who is a keen disciple of Gandhi and who prefers to be known as "Mira Bey".

Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman of Tripura

Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman is considered the father of modern architecture in Tripura, as the entire planning of present day Tripura was initiated during his rule. He is also considered one of the pioneers in land reforms. In 1939, he reserved land for the local Tripura tribals, which was later helped in the creation of the Tripura autonoumus district council. He also built the first airport in Tripura.

Women Modelling Indian Saries - June 1945 Photoshoot

A sari or saree is a strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from four to nine metres in length that is draped over the body in various styles. It is popular in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Burma, and Malaysia. The most common style is for the sari to be wrapped around the waist, with one end then draped over the shoulder baring the midriff. Know more in Wikipedia
